What is lms royal scot?

LMS Royal Scot was a class of 4-6-0 steam locomotives designed by Sir Henry Fowler for the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) and introduced in 1927. The locomotives were named after regions or regiments of the former British Empire. They were fitted with a highly efficient boiler and produced their best performances when the steam pressure was raised to 250 psi. They were primarily used for express passenger service, particularly on the West Coast Main Line, and were considered to be one of the most successful designs of the LMS. In total, 70 Royal Scot locomotives were built between 1927 and 1930. The class underwent several modifications and rebuilds over the years, with the final locomotive being withdrawn from service in 1964.
